Bulletin de la Bible latine. VIII (1 ère série)
The Bulletin de la Bible latine appears every two years since 1964. It gives an abstract and a critical evaluation of the works (books and articles) on the Old Latin Bible and on the Vulgate, especially on the manuscripts, on their text types and on the prefaces, capitula, etc, going along with the Biblical books. The present series proposes 87 items
« Augustin se répète, il ne se copie pas. » Dom Germain Morin à l’école de Dom Odilo Rottmanner
Dom Germain Morin (1861-1946), benedictine monk of Maredsous, editor of the sermons of S. Caesarius and of S. Augustine, soon received from dom Odilo Rottmanner (1841-1907), benedictine monk of St Bonifaz (Munich), in order to test the authenticity of the sermons, this criterion among others: “Augustine repeats himself, he does not copy himself.” The opportunity is given to recall the memory of this clever Augustinian searcher and his influence o…
L’ordre ancien des Octoginta Homiliae du Pseudo-Fulgence d’après les catalogues de Lorsch (II)
The first part (I) focused on the structure and order of the collection Octoginta homiliae of the Pseudo-Fulgentius: we have shown in particular the anteriority of the order of Lorsch. In this second part, we provide a table with correspondences between L, M and R, then offer a brief commentary of individual items, with a particular attention to their transmission. The article ends with a few hypotheses on the origin and history of the collection…

L’ordre ancien des Octoginta Homiliae du Pseudo-Fulgence d’après les catalogues de Lorsch (I)
This article is scheduled to appear in two parts (I-II). The first part here published explores the structure and order of the Pseudo-Fulgentius collection of eighty sermons (PS-FU s), which we propose to call the Octoginta homiliae collection. It first presents the three known manuscripts of the collection: a now lost witness from Lorsch, described in detail in the medieval catalogues of the abbey (= L); the only extant manuscript, Saint-Mihiel,…

Florus et le Psautier. La lettre à Eldrade de Novalèse
Florus composed some poems on the Psalms and drew the plan of an ideal Latin Psalter in a letter to Eldradus, abbot of Novalesa. Our sources are the letter of Florus, a poem joined to it, and the Chronicon Novaliciense. Two Psalters must be considered: the Psalter sent by Florus to Eldradus, and the Psalter which Eldradus intended to copy according to the instructions of Florus. One of the distinctive features noted by Florus is the absence of v.…

This Bible benefitted from the approval of Charles V, the prudent silence of the Council of Trent during its sixth session (1546) and the caution ofseveral doctors ofthe Faculty of Theology of Louvain. The printer, B. Gravius, supported by a groupfrom Louvain, published three édi…
