The author tries to show that the use of the ancient Greek myth of Medusa combined with a powerful role reversal animates this SF work. The merging of science fiction, ancient mythology and horror has created a memorable tale; furthermore, the elegant and lyrical style of Shambleau has contributed to its uninterrupted success
