Yeni nesillerin eğitimi, Erken Cumhuriyet döneminde en önem verilen konuların başında gelmektedir. Bu doğrultuda Anadolu’nun hemen her köşesi, yoğun bir imar faaliyetine sahne olmuştur. Saruhanoğulları Beyliği döneminde inşa edilen ve Anadolu Türk mimarisinin müstesna yapılarından biri olan Manisa Ulu Cami, medrese, türbe, hamam, mevlevihane ve çeşmelerden meydana gelen büyük bir külliyenin parçasını oluşturmaktadır.
