Exploring the psychometric properties of the Texas revised grief scale
From mindfulness to flourishing
Psychometric validation of the responsibility scale and the mediating role of psychological distress in the association between personal responsibility and wellbeing in arab adults
Responsibility plays a significant role in fostering mental health and wellbeing, encompassing personal accountability and societal contributions. This study aimed to validate the Responsibility Scale (RS), a psychometric tool designed to measure personal and social responsibility, using rigorous statistical methods. Participants included 256 adults (80.86% female) from diverse educational backgrounds, recruited through a convenience sampling met…
Intrinsic and Extrinsic Religiosity in Relation to Religious Guilt, Shame, and Psychological Well-Being in Arab Adults
Shame and guilt in Arab populations
Shame and guilt are critical self-conscious emotions that influence psychological well-being. The Personal Feelings Questionnaire-2 (PFQ-2) is a widely used to assess these emotions, yet its psychometric properties within Arab populations remain underexplored. Additionally, psychological distress may mediate the relationships between resilience, religiosity, and emotional outcomes. This study examined the psychometric properties of the PFQ-2 amon…
Death anxiety and work passion
Loneliness among dementia caregivers
The UCLALS3 is a valid short scale; its cutoff ≥6.5 may flag major clinically relevant symptoms in dementia caregivers, highlighting the need for tailored interventions that boost caregivers' individual perception of social relationships. More investigations are needed to confirm UCLALS3 invariance across countries
A psychometric analysis of the Arabic version of the PHQ-9 for depression screening in cardiovascular disease patients
The Arabic PHQ-9 is a reliable and effective tool for depression screening in Omani patients with HF. Its ease of administration make it a valuable resource for mental health assessments and preventative interventions in cardiovascular care settings
The Arabic Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and its three-item version
The Arabic SWLS-3 is a unidimensional ultra-brief measure, which demonstrates measurement invariance along with high internal consistency, convergent validity, and predictive validity similar to the parent scale. It may mirror other constructs of well-being (e.g., positive affect) and psycho-pathogenicity (negative affect and somatic complaints)
Measurement invariance and country difference in death anxiety
Death is something inevitable and common to all human beings. However, cultures vary in how they define and manage living with the inevitability of death and what happens when a person dies. Among the possible responses to this inescapable reality, there is death anxiety. Several instruments have proliferated in the literature to assess death anxiety. Among them, stands out the Scale of Death Anxiety (SDA) which contemplates somatic, cognitive, e…
Measurement invariance of the Arabic version of the Flourishing Scale in a sample of special education teachers
The present study aims to validate the Flourishing Scale (FS) in a convenience sample of 233 special education teachers. The FS's psychometric properties were investigated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). EFA had a one‐factor solution that explained 49.9% of the variance, a Cronbach's alpha internal consistency of .83, and a McDonald omega coefficient of .83. For the scale validity, the FS had a 0.36…
The Effect of Death Anxiety on Work Passion
Fear of death is an emotional manifestation of the instinct for self-preservation. Any threat to our existence induces an anxiety response. Death anxiety can trigger obsessive-compulsive behaviours, such as an obsessive passion for work. Using a sample of 314 participants (68.2% female), with a mean age of 38.97 years (SD = 10.36), this study sought to observe the predictive effect of death anxiety on work passion, as well as the moderating effec…
Flourishing, Cinematic Self, and Sense of Self as Predictors of Death Anxiety
This research delved into the intricate landscape of death anxiety, a profound psychological phenomenon that deeply influences individuals' perceptions and responses to mortality. Through a meticulous examination of key psychological factors - flourishing, cinematic self, and sense of self - we aimed to unravel the complexities surrounding this existential concern. With a diverse sample of 327 Portuguese participants, our study sheds light on the…
