Resilience and quality of life of disaster survivors six months after the Noto Peninsula earthquake
This study revealed the vulnerability of middle-aged and older women to resilience and quality of life (QoL) among survivors six months after a disaster. It also indicated that certain environmental factors, such as employment and exercise habits, were associated with higher resilience and QoL in the older population. Future longitudinal studies should examine the factors associated with resilience and QoL
Serum TNFα and IL-17A levels may predict increased depressive symptoms
BACKGROUND: Low-grade systemic inflammation may be a key player in the immune activation that has been reported for mental health deterioration. We hypothesised that elevated serum levels of inflammatory cytokines increase neuroinflammation and exacerbate depressive symptoms. METHODS: The participants were part of a cohort study for whom data was available for both 2015 and 2019. In 2015, blood samples were collected from 232 participants. Their …

Therefore, the present cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between alcohol intake and CP in community-dwelling middle-aged and elderly individuals with/without depressive symptoms. Participants comprised 2223 inhabitants of Shika to…
Increased Prevalence of Atopic Dermatitis in Children Aged 0–3 Years Highly Exposed to Parabens
The prevalence of allergic diseases, such as bronchial asthma, atopic dermatitis, nasal allergies (pollinosis), and food allergies, has been increasing in many countries. The hygiene hypothesis was recently considered from the perspective of exposure to antimicrobial agents and preservatives, such as parabens (CAS number, 94-13-3). It currently remains unclear whether parabens, which are included in many daily consumer products such as cosmetics,…

A Longitudinal Study of Association between Heavy Metals and Itchy Eyes, Coughing in Chronic Cough Patients
The association between heavy metals exposure and respiratory diseases or allergic sensitization showing high serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) has been suggested. However, previous findings have been inconsistent and the mechanisms responsible remain unclear. We evaluated heavy metal exposure and its association with coughing, itchy eyes in chronic cough patients with different IgE levels. Ninety outpatients in Kanazawa University Hospital were recru…
