Emerging digital product passport initiatives require improved data structuring to support life cycle assessment
Persistent data gaps limit the quality of life cycle assessments (LCAs), which frequently rely on incomplete, outdated, or non-comparable process data. Digital product passports (DPPs), initially developed for supply chain traceability, regulatory compliance, and circular economy objectives, also hold potential to address long-standing data challenges in LCA. Based on 20 selected, publicly documented DPP initiatives assessed as of April 2025, thi…
The effectiveness of motivational interviewing on self-management in older adults with hypertension and frailty
Background: Frailty and hypertension frequently coexist in older adults, posing substantial challenges to self-management and increasing the risk of adverse outcomes. Standard health education has shown limited effects in this population, and motivational interviewing may support sustained behavior change, yet evidence from randomized controlled trials remains scarce. Methods: This prospective, single-blind, parallel-group randomized controlled t…
Projecting temperature-related mortality impacts at urban scale under climate scenarios
Global warming and resulting extreme weather patterns are expected to substantially increase temperature-related mortality, with urban populations especially at risk due to high density, rapid urbanization, and the urban heat island effect. While projections of the climate-health impacts in urban contexts have proliferated in the literature, systematic evaluation of methodological approaches underpinning the studies remains limited. Understanding…
The relationship between social emotions and intuitive eating behaviors
These findings illustrate associations between social emotional expression and eating behaviors, highlighting implications for emotion-sensitive interventions and the design of healthier online social environments
The greenhouse gas emissions of pharmaceutical consumption and production
Can we project well-being? Towards integral well-being projections in climate models and beyond
Scientists have proposed many “Beyond-GDP” indicators to replace the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in order to quantify genuine societal development. While GDP is regularly projected, research on future trajectories of Beyond-GDP indicators is lacking, failing to meet policymakers’ needs. Focusing on the Human Development Index (HDI), this paper attempts to calculate one of the first global well-being projections for 161 countries by 2100 using th…
Rumor Localization, Detection and Prediction in Social Network
With the global epidemic of the COVID-19, various rumors spread wantonly on social networks, which has seriously affected the stability and harmony of the entire society. To purify the network environment, some researchers have proposed to fight rumors from the perspectives of tracing the source of rumors, detecting the authenticity of information, and predicting explosive fake news. But their works are fragmented, and their performance are not s…
Secure attachment priming inhibits the generalization of conditioned fear
The findings suggest that activating participants' representations of secure attachment via imagination effectively attenuates the generalization of perceptual fear at the physiological level. The inhibitory effect of secure attachment priming appears to be distinct from positive emotional modulation and remains unaffected by individual trait attachment styles. These results offer novel insights and avenues for the prevention and clinical interve…
Consideration of culture is vital if we are to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals
Integrating the social and natural sciences to effectively tackle the intertwined challenges represented by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been advocated for years. However, the practice is challenging, especially with respect to the beliefs, morals, and practices of individuals and groups or, more succinctly put, culture, which, despite attracting growing awareness, remains understated in sustainability. Here, we examine how and to…

One year after Covid
Based on a large Online Survey of Micro-and-small Enterprises (OSOME) conducted in March 2021 on micro-and-small enterprises and self-employed businesses (MSEs) operating on the Alipay platform, this paper examines the operational status, challenges, responses, and confidence of MSEs after exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic for over a year in China. The operational status of micro-and-small enterprises has significantly improved despite cash flow …
Unraveling the Nexus
In response to the unprecedented decline in global natural resource endowments, the so‐called nexus framework is gaining increasing influence on resource management practices. In this research, we approach the resource nexus through the concept of nexus pathways. Nexus pathways are configurations that resource flows follow along supply chains leading to the combined use of two or more resources. Three general types of pathways are identified: dir…
Method for endogenizing capital in the United States Environmentally‐Extended Input‐Output model
Each year businesses, governments, and homeowners in the United States invest around one fifth of gross domestic product into the creation of capital assets such as buildings, machinery, and software to enable production and consumption. Use of capital is typically included to some extent in environmental life cycle assessments of goods and services but is not incorporated into most environmentally extended input‐output (EEIO) models, including t…
Nexus Strength
The limited access to natural resources is a major constraint for sustainability at various spatial scales. This challenge has sparked scholarly interest in the linkages or nexus between resources, with a view to helping anticipate unforeseen consequences, identify trade‐offs and co‐benefits, and find optimal solutions. Yet, despite decades of research, limitations in the scope and focus of studies remain. Recently constructed multiregional input…
The role of Confucianism in the formation of psychological contracts
We investigated the role of cultural factors in the formation of psychological contracts in a Chinese context, on the basis that psychological contracts are different in different cultures. In particular, we considered Confucianism, which can govern the formation of psychological contracts in an Asian context. As people with different personalities make different psychological contracts, we hypothesized that the Asian-specific factor of Confucian…
