Rudy and Mike
The author discusses Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg, the two most recent Mayors of New York City, and their prospects for the Presidency. While the New York mayoralty has historically been a ``political dead end," Giuliani is a front-runner for the Republican nomination and Bloomberg is being discussed as a potential independent candidate. The author briefly examines their leadership styles and offers some ideas about how they might deal …
Bloomberg Triumphant
The author contends that Michael Bloomberg's 2005 re-election signalled the collapse of Democratic Party dominance in New York mayoral elections. The major candidates and the events surrounding the campaign are discussed. Green's defeat indicates that the alliance between white liberals, Latinos, and African Americans has begun to coll…

Neighborhood Organizations and Resource Dependency
It is the author’s contention that community control movements of the 1960s were unable to fulfill their militant objectives due to their lack of politically critical resources. As a result, these organizations were forced to moderate their objectives or incur the wrath of their donors. This article provides a brief history of the movement and an analysis of the consequences of resource dependency (i.e., the need of these groups to seek resources…
