Multidimensionality of Rotter's Locus of Control Scale
McInish and Srivastava recently examined the multidimensionality of Rotter's Locus of Control Scale for common stock investors. Following principal-component analysis with a varimax rotation, these authors extracted nine factors using the scree test and the latent root criterion. Replication using the Very Simple Structure index yields a single-factor solution. Parkes' two-factor solution using the same Very Simple Structure technique is obtained…
Bias From Nonsynchronous Trading in Tests of the Levhari-Levy Hypothesis
Garbade, Kenneth, Methods of Examining the Stability of Regression Coefficients, Journal of the American Statistical Association 72 (Mar. 1977), 54-63. Godfrey, L. G., Against General Autoregressive and Moving Average Error Models when the Regressors Include Lagged Dependent Variables, Econometrica 46 (Sept. 1978), 1293-1301. Harvey, Andrew C., and Garry D. A. Phillips, for Stochastic Parameters in Regression S.S.R.C. supported project on Testing…
The nature of individual investors' heterogeneous expectations
Multidimensionality of Locus of Control for Common Stock Investors
Stock market investors were surveyed by mail for a study of the multidimensionality of Rotter's scale for this group. All common stock investors, 253 respondents, comprised a sample 94% male, ranging in age from 21 yr. to over 65 yr. ( M = 50 yr.). The mean of the Rotter scores was 6.79, with a SD of 3.67. Following principal components analysis with a varimax rotation, extracted factors corresponded closely to those found by previous researchers…
