  • Visual attention in infant monkeys

Sydney Reisbick, Martha Neuringer et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•1997•Cited by: 19•References: 2

Effects of dietary essential fatty acids on visual attention were explored longitudinally in infant rhesus monkeys with a visual paired-comparison paradigm. Sets of primate faces and of patterns were presented at Weeks 2, 5, 9, and 13 to 9 infants deficient in omega-3 fatty acids and 8 fed a standard nursery diet. Familiarization to 1 member of each pair preceded simultaneous presentation of both stimuli. Infants fed the deficient diet showed lon…

    Open Access•Sydney Reisbick, Ton-Sook Choi•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1987

The evaluation that an event is significant to life or goals may be important as a source of intensity of emotion as well as of kind of emotion. A simple survey questionnaire included events intended to elicit five different emotions. The 62 American and 71 Korean subjects rated on a scale of 1 to 7 the inten…

  • Maternal aggression in rats

    Open Access•Anne D Mayer, Sydney Reisbick et al.•ARTICLE•Aggressive Behavior•1987•References: 21

Maternal aggression in a Sprague-Dawley strain of laboratory rat (Charles River CD) was explored from Day 1 after mating on Day 0 through Day 24 of lactation (L0-L24). Aggression toward unfamiliar male “intruders” during 10-min tests was low among nonpregnant, nonlactating females and during the first 10 days of gestation. Frequency of attack on intruders increased moderately but significantly by Gestation Day 16 (G16; Experiment 1) or G21 (Exper…
