Over the last 20 years there has been a revival of interest in orthodox Judaism in Israel. In an area of Jerusalem with a large concentration of academies of study for ‘baalei teshuva’ (those who have undergone change to orthodox Judaism), it was noted that 12.6 per cent of referrals to the community mental health centre were newly religious. These referrals tended to have schizophrenia or severe personality disorders and were less likely than ot…

Open Access•Michael Roskin, Haim Dasberg•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•1983

The Hebrew SCL-90 was found to retain its validity and to be easily administered and scored in non-treatment situations. It was…

In most cases, brief crisis-orientated interventions were sufficient to reduce symptomatology and restore the patient to a healthier level of functioning. Such interventions involved not only the psychogeriatric team but other health…

Open Access•Haim Dasberg, Ilan Shalif•ARTICLE•British Journal of Medical…•1978

The short clinical diagnostic self‐rating scale for psycho‐neurotic patients (The Middlesex Hospital Questionnaire) was translated into everyday Hebrew and tested on 216 subjects for: (1) concurrent validity with clinical diagnoses; (2) discriminatory validity on a psychoneurotic gradient of psychiatric out‐patients, general practice patients, and normal controls; (3) validity of subscales and discrete items using matrices of Spearman rank correl…
