  • Neural systems subserving valence and arousal during the experience of induced emotions

Tiziano Colibazzi, Jonathan Posner et al.•ARTICLE•Emotion•2010

The circumplex model of affect construes all emotions as linear combinations of 2 independent neurophysiological dimensions, valence and arousal. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging to identify the neural networks subserving valence and arousal, and we assessed, in 10 participants, the associations of the BOLD (blood oxygen level-dependent) response, an indirect index of neural activity, with ratings of valence and arousal during the em…

  • Maltreatment and Internal Representations of Relationships

    Open Access•Robert J Waldinger, Sheree L Toth et al.•ARTICLE•Social Development•2001•Cited by: 7•References: 6

This study examined whether the predominance of particular themes in maltreated pre‐schoolers’ stories about relationships is related to type of maltreatment they experienced. The MacArthur Story Stem Battery was administered to 49 maltreated and 22 non‐maltreated children. Children’s representations of self and other were extracted from the resulting stories using the Core Conflictual Relationship Theme Method. Significant differences were found…

  • Emotional and behavioural problems in adolescents/young adults receiving treatment at a community‐based psychotherapy centre for young people

    Open Access•Geoffrey Baruch, R M Pasco Fearon et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Medical…•1999

The present study examined the correspondence among adolescent/young adult and parental figure, professional, peer and partner reports, in their rating of emotional and behavioural problems of 195 young people aged between 12 and 25 years who attended a community‐based psychotherapy centre. Data from young people were obtained at intake by participants completing the Youth Self Report Form and from significant others by them completing the Signif…

  • Adolescents who drop out of psychotherapy at a community‐based psychotherapy centre

Open Access•Geoffrey Baruch, Andrew J Gerber et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Medical…•1998•Cited by: 2

The present study examined the difference between young people who terminated treatment prematurely and who continued in treatment. One hundred and thirty‐four young people (ages 12 to 24 years) who attended a community‐based psychotherapy centre for psychoanalytic psychotherapy between 1 April 1993 and 31 March 1996 comprised the sample. It was predicted that drop‐outs would consist of younger adolescents who were referred, who show a high score…

  • The relation of attachment status, psychiatric classification, and response to psychotherapy.

P Fonagy, Tom Leigh et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Consulting and…•1996
