  • Forgivingness, Vengeful Rumination, and Affective Traits

    Open Access•Jack W Berry, Everett L Worthington et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality•2005

Trait forgivingness is the disposition to forgive interpersonal transgressions over time and across situations. We define forgiveness as the replacement of negative unforgiving emotions with positive, other‐oriented emotions. Rumination has been suggested as a mediator between forgivingness and emotional outcomes; however, we suggest that different content of rumination leads to different outcomes after transgressions. In four studies of 179, 233…

  • Survivor guilt, submissive behaviour and evolutionary theory

    Open Access•Lynn E O’connor, Lynn E O'Connor et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Medical…•2000•Cited by: 3

The Interpersonal Guilt Questionnaire, the Submissive Behaviour Inventory,…

  • Individual Psychotherapy for Addicted Clients

    Lynn E O’connor, Lynn E O'Connor et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•1993

This article presents an overview of Control Mastery Theory, developed by Joseph Weiss, and applies this theory to the treatment of alcohol- and other drug-addicted clients. The article proposes that individual psychotherapy, in conjunction with self-help and other chemical dependency treatment programs, may be a significant component of the treatment of addicted clients. According to Weiss's theory, addicted clients are suffering not only from t…
