Willingness for Cross-Class Contact of Different Social Classes and the Mediating Role of Negative Contact Expectations
The probability of cross-class contact between individuals from different social classes is significantly lower than that of random chance contact. However, it remains unclear whether individuals from lower or higher social classes are more reluctant to engage in cross-class contact. This study found that individuals with a lower subjective social class (SSC) were less willing to engage in cross-class contact than those with a higher SSC (Studies…

The Saltpetre Cave Sites and Saltpetre Production Technology of Ming and Qing Dynasties in South-West China
Saltpetre, the key component in making gunpowder under the formula of ‘one measure of saltpetre, two of sulphur, three of charcoal’, was mainly produced in ancient times in karst caves across China. Numerous saltpetre cave sites from the Ming and Qing dynasties (14th–20th centuries) recorded recently in south-west China have made a significant contribution to the current framework of gunpowder history research, which has hitherto been limited lar…
Quantitative assessment of building losses in China’s coastal regions due to sea-level rise under extreme climate conditions
Against the backdrop of global climate change, the superposition of extreme sea level events and long-term sea-level rise poses a severe threat to coastal regions. However, there is currently a lack of large-scale and detailed quantitative assessments for building losses caused by sea-level rise. This study takes 14 coastal provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities, and special administrative regions) in China as the research area. By integra…

Land regulations, innovation and productivity
In this paper, we study how land policy reform affects firm innovation and productivity in China. More specifically, we focus on the impact of the land regulations that controlled the quotas of land supply introduced in 2004. The regulations constitute land input constraints for firms and make them more difficult in expanding production capacity to fully exploit …

Discrepancy in ingroup bias among different self‐construal individuals
Although ingroup bias is well confirmed in various groups, the extent of the bias is affected by culture. Using a point‐assignment task and implicit association task (IAT) paradigm, we conducted research to explore the influence of independent/interdependent self‐construal ingroup bias in live and minimal group situations from both explicit and implicit aspects. The results showed that no matter which construal style was used (independent or inte…
Fixing China’s humanitarian aid architecture
The global humanitarian situation has deteriorated drastically since the outbreak of COVID-19 and the Russian–Ukrainian war. The European Union and the United States are forerunners to providing global humanitarian aid, but China’s visibility and role in global humanitarian affairs has significantly increased. Although China has been contributing more, its humanitarian aid concept remains vague, its aid mechanism is fragmented, and its approach t…

This article proposes a working definition of TDC focused on the type of resources transferred, and establishes a data set on the projects that China was involved in, from 2005 to 2016. Moreover, it investigate…
