Accentual Rhythm in Ovid, Amores I
This paper uses the first book of Ovid’s Amores to explore the rhythms created by the relationship between quantitative meter and word-accents in Latin elegiac poetry. The first part explains how my analysis of the word-accents in relation to the quantitative meter reveals a single basic rhythm underlying the whole of each hexameter and pentameter line.
