Work, leisure and well-being of families with children with disabilities
In this paper, we examine how parental employment arrangements and household income shape leisure time and well-being in families raising children with disabilities, compared to families with typically developing children. Using newly collected data from Italy in the spring of 2023, we find that parents of children with disabilities are more likely to engage in remote work and reduce their working hours. Despite sharing similar socio-economic cha…
Long-term impact evaluation of early childhood conditions When only short-term outcomes are available
Does breastfeeding support at work help mothers, children, and employers at the same time
This paper investigates whether the availability of breastfeeding facilities at the workplace helps to reconcile breastfeeding and work commitments, and whether it has beneficial effects for the health of the child. Using data from the UK Infant Feeding Survey, we find that the availability of breastfeeding facilities at work is associated with longer breastfeeding durations for all women and shorter maternity leave spells for higher educated wom…
The impact evaluation of short repeated programs: The case of parenting skills programs
In this article, we estimate a series of models to evaluate the effects of a short program in a context where randomization is not feasible but the program follows a cyclical pattern. We will focus empirically on a case study involving parenting skills courses, which have become increasingly popular. In order to evaluate the impact of the program on parents' and children outcomes, we employ two different methods. The first method compares the out…

Motherhood and market work decisions in institutional context: A European perspective
This paper explores the impact of social polices and labour market conditions on women's decisions on work and childbearing. This is analysed using data from the European Community Household Panel (ECHP). The aim of the paper is to jointly estimate the two decisions while controlling for factors such as personal characteristics, variables related to the childcare system, parental leave arrangements, family allowances, and part time work opportuni…
Intra‐Household Allocation of Resources: Inferences from Non‐resident Fathers’ Child Support Payments
A large proportion of divorced and separated fathers form new partnerships. The new partner's preferences are not likely to put much weight on expenditures on the man's children from his previous union. Thus, his own and his partner's income would have different impacts on his child support payments if partners' relative incomes affect bargaining power in household decisions. This article exploits within-father variation in the British Household …
