Gibson's Paradox and Policy Regimes: A Comparison of the Experience in the Us, Uk and Italy
A bstract This paper compares the behaviour of long‐term interest rates and prices in Italy, the UK and the USA, and seeks to shed light into what has become known as the ‘Gibson Paradox’. We compare the various theoretical explanations for the observed positive correlation of interest rates and prices in the USA and the UK. Third World Debt and Macroeconomic Interactions Between the North and South
In this article the authors examine three issues: the causes of the South's debt crisis, the nature of the macroeconomic linkages between the North and South, and some of the debt rescheduling programmes. The crisis was due not only to domestic policies in the South but also to the macroeconomic linkages between the South and the OECD economies.
