Growing criticism of Canada's existing retirement income system has resulted in increased pressure on the government either to expand public pension programs or to introduce legislation requiring employers to establish pension plans with compulsory participation by all employees. The Swedish approach to investing public pension funds: Some lessons for Canada
Unlike the Canada Pension Plan, which is financed largely on a pay‐as‐you‐go basis, Sweden's national earnings‐related pension scheme is designed to accumulate a large reserve fund.
