Open Access•Michael Bergmann, Arne Bethmann et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

This study investigates vaccine hesitancy among the 50 + population in Europe during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on the role of national contexts alongside individual determinants. • Are Women Doing It for Themselves? Female Managers and the Gender Wage Gap

Open Access•Nikolaos Theodoropoulos, Νικόλαος Θεοδωρόπουλος et al.•ARTICLE•Oxford Bulletin of Economics and…•2022

Using linked employer‐employee data for Britain, we find a robust association between the share of female managers in the workplace and the size of the gender wage gap. In workplace fixed‐effects estimates, the gap is eradicated when more than 60% of workplace managers are women, a scenario that obtains in around one fifth of all workplaces. The association between the share of female managers and the gender wage gap is more pronounced when workp…

  • Hierarchy and the Employer Size Effect on Wages: Evidence from Britain

    Open Access•C Green, Colin P Green et al.•ARTICLE•Economica•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 53

We argue that employer size wage effects reflect the role of hierarchy. Using matched employer–employee data and individual longitudinal data, we show that the employer size wage effects for supervisors are approximately twice those for non‐supervisors. We confirm sorting on supervisor ability, and present evidence of additional match‐specific wage returns for supervisors. We demonstrate that spans of control influence the establishment size retu…
