Effects of varying longitudinal bending stiffness in running shoes on lower limb biomechanics of elite marathon runners
This study demonstrates that increasing the LBS shoes alters the lower limb biomechanical performance of elite marathon runners. Both MLBS and HLBS conditions reduced MTP joint dorsiflexion, but MLBS shoes significantly increased positive work at the ankle joint and improved joint function while maintaining lower hip joint moments. Among the three conditions, MLBS better balanced mechanical efficiency and natural joint function, suggesting it may…

Relationships between urinary metals concentrations and cognitive performance among U.S. older people in NHANES 2011–2014
Background: Epidemiological evidence on Urine metals and cognitive impairment in older individuals is sparse and limited. The goal of this study was to analyze if there was a link between urinary metal levels and cognitive performance in U.S. people aged 60 and up. Methods: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data from 2011 to 2014 were utilized in this cross-sectional analysis. Memory function was quantified using the f…
In-phase and out-of-phase behavior of the East Asian summer and winter monsoons recorded in the South Yellow Sea sediment over the past 9.5 ka
The variability of the East Asian monsoon (EAM) during the Holocene exhibits significant regional response, and its evolution needs further discussion. A well-dated, high-resolution sea-surface temperature record based on long-chain unsaturated alkenones, grain-size data, and clay mineral assemblages from the South Yellow Sea sediment is presented to investigate the sedimentary provenance and reconstruct the EAM over the past 9.5 ka. The results …
Does non-conforming urban development mean the failure of zoning? A framework for conformance-based evaluation
The conformance approach is frequently used to evaluate the effectiveness of spatial plans in containing urban sprawl. However, non-conformances are widely considered inevitable. Prior conformance-based evaluations fail to answer the essential question of whether plans influence non-conforming situations. To address this gap, we built a framework for conformance measurement to reveal how plans affect non-conforming urban development. The multi-in…
