A Phase I Cultural Resource Survey for the Proposed Six Mile Boat Ramp Expansion Project (Texas Antiquities Permit #9155)
Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc., personnel completed a records review and cultural resource survey for the proposed expansion of the existing Six Mile Boat Ramp in Sabine County, Texas. This work was performed to assist the Sabine River Authority of Texas in complying with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (Public Law 89-665, 16 U.S.C. 470h-2) as an applicant for a Section 404 Clean Water Act Permit from the US Army C…
Psychedelics Promote Structural and Functional Neural Plasticity
Atrophy of neurons in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) plays a key role in the pathophysiology of depression and related disorders. The ability to promote both structural and functional plasticity in the PFC has been hypothesized to underlie the fast-acting antidepressant properties of the dissociative anesthetic ketamine. Here, we report that, like ketamine, serotonergic psychedelics are capable of robustly increasing neuritogenesis and/or spinogenes…
Tropical forest pricing policies and rent collection in South East Asia
Throughout South East Asia, with few exceptions, forest fees are low, undervalue tropical timber and forests, are difficult to enforce and collect, and generate inadequate revenues for management of the forests. Low forest fees that under‐value the timber provide little incentive for efficient utilization of the timber or conservation of the forests. The paper examines forest pricing policies for tropical timber and forest concessions in South Ea…
Politics and provincial government spending in Canada
Much has been written on the growth of government expenditures at the national level, focusing on economic variables. Few studies have focused on the growth of spending at the provincial level. Even fewer studies have sought to examine the role of politics in provincial government spending. This paper seeks to fill the gap. It examines the growth of government in Canadian provinces over the last quarter‐century, 1960 through 1986, and the role of…

Royal Commission and Forest Policy in British Columbia: A Review of the Pearse Report
Historically, Royal Commissions have come to play a significant role in the formulation of forest policy in British Columbia. The report of the Pearse Commission, Timber Rights and Forest Policy in British Columbia, released in late 1976, offers the prospect of another significant turning point in forest policy, if its recommendations are accepted by the Provincial Government. However, whether the recommendations will be adopted is in doubt; firs…

VII.— On the Physiological Action of Light
Sensory nerves are divided into two classes, those of general sensibility and those of special sense. The nerves of general sensibility are distributed to the skin, muscles, or viscera, and convey influences to the brain which give rise to sensations of touch, heat, &c., or to those vague sensations, not definitely localised, which we include under the name of the muscular sense. The nerves of special sense are endowed with special and individual…
