Behavior-state matching and synchrony in mothernfant interactions of nondepressed versus depressed dyads
Behavior-state matching and synchrony in mother-infant interactions of nondepressed versus depressed dyads
The purpose of the study was to assess the degree to which depressed mother-infant dyads, relative to nondepressed mother-infant dyads, matched behavior states on a continuous scale from negative to neutral to positive affect. Furthermore, interaction synchrony in these two groups was determined by measuring the coherence of the dyads' behavior time series
Infants of Depressed Mothers Show "Depressed" Behavior Even with Nondepressed Adults

Infant day care facilitates preschool social behavior
Play interactions and interviews of depressed and conduct disorder children and their mothers
Temperament and play interaction behavior across infancy
Temporal stability and convergent validity of infant temperament ratings and play interaction behaviors were examined across early to late infancy. Stability was noted for the temperament dimensions activity, rhythmicity, intensity, mood, and persistence. Stability also was noted for the infant play interaction behaviors looking, smiling, and vocalizing. In addition, convergent validity was noted for attentive-affective behaviors and comparable t…
Working mother‐infant interactions across the second year of life
Play interactions between 36 college-educated, middle-income, working mothers and their infants, who had attended nursery school since 1 month of age, were videotaped when the infants were 12, 18, and 24 months of age. The videotapes were coded for mother and infant looking at each other, vocalizing, affectionate play, and constructive play. Changes noted in the infants' play behaviors across this period included an increase in infant vocalizatio…
Affective behavior and weight changes among hospitalized failure-to-thrive infants
The affective behavior and weight change of 12 nonorganic failure-to-thrive, 12 organic failure-to-thrive, and 12 control infants (M age = 8 months) were compared across their hospitalization. Infant affect was evaluated at approximately the beginning, middle, and endpoints of hospitalization using the Behavioral Assessment Scale. Among the failure-to-thrive infants, positive responses to stimulation at the initial assessment were related to weig…
