  • Biological and Ecological Influences on Development at 12 Months of Age

    Open Access•Thomas E Jordan, Steven D Spaner•ARTICLE•Human Development•2009

A multivariate analysis of development at the end of first year of life has been reported. The study analyzed the contribution of biological data, and two aggregates of environmental data to the study of development at age 12 months. Data consisted of materials in the histories of 353 children at 12 months of age. The case histories were drawn from a prospective longitudinal study of development in the preschool years

  • Factorial Comparison of the Wallace Self-Concept Scale between Special Education Teachers and Regular Classroom Teachers

    Open Access•Gaylen R Wallace, Steven D Spaner et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1984

The study investigated the factorial invariance and factor structure of the Wallace Self-Concept Scale (WSCS) between regular class-room and special education teachers. At issue was the question of whether a given self-referent scale is generalizable across different types of teachers who function in different kinds of teaching environments. The varimax rotation produced three factors which were labeled as personal attribute, personal energy and …

    Open Access•Jane L Panagos, Rita L Holmes et al.•ARTICLE•Urban Education•1981•References: 7

  • Biological and Ecological Influences on Development at 48 and 60 Months of Age

    Open Access•Thomas E Jordan, Steven D Spaner•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1974

A multiple linear-regression analysis of development at ages 4 and 5 yr. is reported. Ss were drawn from a large birth cohort born in 1966. The study examined the role of maternal traits, environmental factors, and biological data from the perinatal period, as predictors of physical growth and mental development. The findings showed that two aggregates of environmental data, one representing the micro-environment of mother and child, the other th…

  • A comparison of the factor structure of the Test Anxiety Scale for Children among lower- and middle-class children

    W Ray Rhine, Steven D Spaner•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•1973•Cited by: 1

  • Biological and Ecological Influences on Development at 24 and 36 Months of Age

    Open Access•Thomas E Jordan, Steven D Spaner•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1972

A mutiple linear regression analysis of development at ages 2 and 3 is reported. Ss were drawn from a large birth cohort born in 1966. The study examined the role of maternal traits, environmental factors, race and social class, and biological data from the perinatal period, biological risk status and physical growth, as predictors of physical growth and mental development. The findings, when related to those of a study examining children from th…

  • Brief Report

Keith Mcneil, Keith A McNeil et al.•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1971

The inclusion in a multiple regression model of a predictor variable which is highly correlated with other prediotor variables is usually not recommended. The argument is that the new predictor variable is accouihing for variance which has already been accounted for in the model. The following discussion is a defense for the procedure of including highly correlated predictor variables under certain circumstances. First, highly correlated variable…

  • Maternal Quick Test (QT) Scores in Child Development Research

    Open Access•Claire B Ernhart, Thomas E Jordan et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1971

The Quick Test, a brief measure requiring recognition of vocabulary, was given to 503 mothers of mother-child pairs in a research program. Its correlations with demographic variables, IQ of child, and an index of authoritarian attitude demonstrate its validity in such research
