  • Emergence of a Kwashiorkor-Like Syndrome Associated with Protein-Calorie Malnutrition in the Developing Rhesus Monkey ( Macaca Mulatta )

    Open Access•Charles R Geist, Olin W Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1977

An infant rhesus monkey was separated from its mother at 90 days of age, housed individually, and at 120 days of age placed on a purified low protein diet containing 3.5% casein by weight. To enhance the effects of protein-calorie malnutrition, a protein-deficient diet containing 2.0% casein by weight was introduced at 415 days of age. When compared with other animals on an identical dietary regime, the subject manifested a reduced intake of food…

  • Early Detection of Final Performance in an Introductory Course in General Psychology

    Open Access•Robert R Zimmermann, Larry A Wise et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1974

Final grades in an introductory psychology course were found to correlate significantly with a test representative of course content and ACT scores. Contrary to traditional predictions, the content specific test was not superior to the general abilities test in the prediction of final grades. Course content tests taken during the first three weeks of the academic quarter correlated .85 with course content tests taken during the last 3 wk. of the …

  • Piagetian object permanence in the infant rhesus monkey

    Kathryn Lee Wise, Larry A Wise et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•1974•Cited by: 10•References: 2

  • Program of Psychotherapy for Inmates at the Montana State Prison

    Open Access•Ray T Moore, Robert R Zimmermann et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1972

A program of psychotherapy provided by the Department of Psychology to inmates at the Montana State Prison is described. Graduate students are used as therapists in group and individual therapy sessions. About 25% of the prison population of 250 men is serviced by 2 graduate students who visit the institution twice a week and by 3 faculty consultants who participate in the program approximately once a month. Success of the program as measured by …

  • Dimensions of Social Interactions among Infant Rhesus Monkeys

    Open Access•Katherine D Locke, Edwin A Locke et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1964

To determine the basic dimensions of social interactions in infant rhesus monkeys, 12 animals were divided into groups of four each and observed in a playroom situation. Each monkey was observed for a total of 3 hr. in 18 test sessions over a 2-mo. period. A factor analysis of three separate sets of data yielded two independent factors: an approach-avoidance factor in which the monkey being observed passes or approaches another animal who withdra…

  • Method for Observing Social Interactions in Groups of Infant Rhesus Monkeys

    Open Access•Katherine D Locke, George A Morgan et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1964

Twenty-three observational sessions for each of three groups of 4 infant rhesus monkeys were conducted over a 41⁄2-mo. period in order to develop a method for observing and recording social behavior. The final system provided for the reduction of all social interactions to two-digit numbers representing the interaction of the monkey under observation (P) and the other monkey involved in the interaction (O). Reliability coefficients for three pair…

  • Affectional Response in the Infant Monkey: Orphaned baby monkeys develop a strong and persistent attachment to inanimate surrogate mothers

    Open Access•Harry F Harlow, Robert R Zimmermann•ARTICLE•Science•1959
