  • Mode of Inheritance of Emotionality in the Mouse ( Mus Musculus )

    Open Access•Charles L Goodrick•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1976

Inbred and hybrid mice ( N = 720) were tested in an open field to determine elimination differences as a function of inbred group, sex, trials, and illumination condition and to determine mode of inheritance of elimination. A/J, BALB/CJ, and DBA/2J inbred mice were more emotional than C57BL/6J inbred mice, male mice were more emotional than female mice, and emotionality increased as a function of trials. Emotionality was significantly lower for m…

  • Primary and Secondary Motivational Properties of a Light Stimulus

    Open Access•Charles L Goodrick•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1974

Rats were trained on a continuous reward schedule (CRF) in a 2-bar test box with or without light contingency associated with food reward. During extinction trials with the light contingency presented on CRF, the light contingency was shown to facilitate extinction on the basis of response totals (energizing effect) and percentage of responses on the reward bar (directional effect). For these extinction trials, no evidence was obtained for second…

  • Exploration activity of immature albino rats

  • Error Goal-Gradients of Mature-Young and Aged Rats during Training in a 14-Unit Spatial Maze

    Open Access•Charles L Goodrick•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1973

16 mature-young and 16 aged rats were tested in a 14-unit spatial T-maze using distributed practice of one trial per day and differential motivation. Mature-young rats learned the maze more quickly than aged rats, and age differences increased with increasing trials. Error goal-gradients were obtained which were similar for both age groups and which were maintained over trials

  • Variables affecting free exploration responses of male and female Wistar rats as a function of age

    Charles L Goodrick•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•1971•Cited by: 1

  • Exploration of Nondeprived Male Sprague-Dawley Rats as a Function of Age

    Open Access•Charles L Goodrick•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1967

Groups of male Sprague-Dawley rats 31 to 730 days old were placed in an open field and scores were obtained of ‘exploratory’ and ‘nonexploratory’ responses. Young recently weaned rats (31-day-old) and young-mature rats (94-day-old) had high scores of exploration responses and low scores of nonexploration responses in comparison with adolescent rats (52 or 73 days old) or older rats (365 or 730 days old). After reaching maturity (94 days old), exp…

  • Operant Level and Light-Contingent Bar Presses as a Function of Age and Deprivation

    Open Access•Charles L Goodrick•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1965

Young and senescent male albino rats ( Ns = 40) were run in operant level and light-contingent bar-press tests. Food deprived rats made more presses than nondeprived rats and the increase was similar at each age level for all tests. During light-contingent bar-press tests the bar which produced a 3-sec. burst of light was preferred by all groups. Senescent rats made fewer bar presses than young rats during all tests. In the evaluation of extincti…
