  • Identifying major depressive disorder among US adults living alone using stacked ensemble machine learning algorithms

Open Access•Zhao Chen, Hao Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background: It has been increasingly recognized that adults living alone have a higher likelihood of developing Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) than those living with others. However, there is still no prediction model for MDD specifically designed for adults who live alone. Objective: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing personal health data in combination with a stacked ensemble machine learning (SEML) technique to dete…

  • Association between Life’s simple 7 and rheumatoid arthritis in adult Americans

Open Access•Jie Wang, Fei Xing et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between Life's Simple 7 (LS7) and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adult Americans. Methods: A total of 17,532 participants were included in this study. The association between LS7 and the risk of RA was assessed using a weighted logistic regression model, with odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) calculated. Moreover, the nonlinear relationship was further charact…

  • How accurately can we predict repeat teen pregnancy based on social ecological factors

Jessica F Harding, Betsy Keating et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2022•Cited by: 1

Many factors at the individual, relationship, family, and community or environmental levels could predict repeat teen pregnancies or births, but research on certain factors is limited. In addition, few studies have examined whether these factors can accurately predict whether teen mothers will have a repeat pregnancy. This study examined theoretically selected predictors of repeat teen pregnancy among 945 pregnant and parenting teens ( M age = 17…

  • Morphological responses of the Wax Lake Delta, Louisiana, to Hurricanes Rita

    Open Access•Fei Xing, James P M Syvitski et al.•ARTICLE•Elementa Science of the…•2017

This study examines the morphodynamic response of a deltaic system to extreme weather events. The Wax Lake Delta (WLD) in Louisiana, USA, is used to illustrate the impact of extreme events (hurricanes) on a river-dominated deltaic system. Simulations using the open source Delft3D model reveal that Hurricane Rita, which made landfall 120 km to the west of WLD as a Category 3 storm in 2005, caused erosion on the right side and deposition on the lef…

  • A numerical investigation of freshwater and sediment discharge variations of Poyang Lake catchment, China over the last 1000 years

    Open Access•Jianhua Gao, Jian Hua Gao et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2015•Cited by: 2•References: 3

The Poyang Lake catchment, an important sub-catchment of Changjiang, experienced ‘Little Ice Age’ (LIA) and accelerating intensity of human activities during the last 1000 years. As such, the area and time period serve as a perfect case to study the variations in water and sediment discharge under combined natural and anthropogenic impact. Simulation results of the model HydroTrend indicate that the annual average cumulative water discharge of th…
