Job load, job stress, and job exhaustion among Chinese junior middle school teachers
Interparental Hostility Interacts with Interparental Cooperative Conflict to Predict Adolescent Social Competence Through Parent–Child Relationship Quality
An emerging (yet still scant) body of research has linked interparental hostility to youth compromised social competence over time among adolescents. Moreover, little is known about the conditions under which and the processes through which this association might occur. Using prospective data from 878 youth (50.23% females) and their parents and teachers, this study examined how interparental hostility and cooperative conflict might work in conju…
Vietnamese female sex workers in rural cross-border areas of Guangxi, China
China's HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to grow in rural and less developed areas. This consecutive cross-sectional study examines demographic and behavioral factors associated with HIV/STI infection, Hepatitis C (HCV) and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among Vietnamese female sex workers (FSW), a vulnerable population who cross into Guangxi, China. This study is a secondary data analysis of 303 Vietnamese and 4,348 Chinese FSWs recruit…
A four-wave, cross-lagged model of problematic internet use and mental health among Chinese college students
Based on 4 annual waves of data from a large sample of Chinese college students (N = 2,329, Mage = 18.40 years old, SD = .85; 63.10% females), this study examines the within-person and between-person effects in the association between problematic Internet use (PIU) and mental health issues. Results of analyses using the developmental equilibrium model (i.e., an autoregressive, cross-lagged panel model) demonstrate a reciprocal positive associatio…
Career‐Related Parental Processes and Career Adaptability and Ambivalence Among Chinese Adolescents
Using latent profile analyses and based on two-wave data from 5,388 Chinese adolescents (M age = 15.79, SD = 0.66; 51.99% females), this study examined the variety of ways in which adolescents' perceived career-related parental processes (i.e., parental expectations, support, interference, barriers to engagement, and parent-child congruence) may be configured within families and how such configurations may be associated with adolescents' career a…
HIV prevalence among female sex workers in Guigang City, Guangxi, China
Since 2012, a reduction in HIV prevalence among FSW in Guigang City has been observed. The decline of HIV prevalence was associated with coinciding changes in demographic characteristics of FSW, improvement of HIV knowledge and safer sexual behaviors, and a program that promotes condom use, HIV counseling & testing, and peer education
Characterizing the HIV/Aids Epidemic in the United States and China
The HIV/AIDS data from the national surveillance systems of China and the United States from 1985 to 2014 were compared to characterize the HIV/AIDS epidemic in both countries. The current estimated national HIV prevalence rate in China and the United States are 0.0598% and 0.348%, respectively. In the United States, the annual number of new HIV infections has remained relatively stable (~50,000 each year) and has shown a downward trend in recent…
