  • Transformation of the Aesthetic

    Matthew T Holt•ARTICLE•Design and Culture•2015•References: 11

This paper argues that the most significant, contemporary synthesis of art and design is occurring at the level of participatory projects, and not in the more customary fields of collusion (product design, for example). These projects are durational, experiential, and dialogic, and therefore I argue that traditional aesthetics based on the contemplation of objects and the analysis of representations does not adequately account for what amounts to…

  • Bounded Price Variation and Rational Expectations in Endogenous Switching Model of the U.S. Corn Market

Matthew T Holt, Stanley R Johnson•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•1989

A model that includes bounded price variation and rational expectations by producers is estimated for the U.S. corn market. The resulting model specification is highly nonlinear though, since the probability of market equilibrium must be determined endogenously. Unlike previous research, the cross-equation restrictions implied by the rational expectations hypothesis are incorporated in the bounded prices model by using Fair and Taylor's (1983) pr…
