Child-friendly pre-trial gaming systems
The EU and UK are calling for child-friendly justice. Yet existing adult-oriented practices disrupt justice and increase children’s trauma. Stories have cognitive value—listened to carefully and expertly, they provide knowledge. That knowledge is captured and presented in narrative evidence—the product of the expert act of critical engagement with stories, and with others' engagement with stories. Exploring the value and role of creative practices in research co-production
Over the past two years, COVID has illustrated how research benefit can be accelerated when need, resources and opportunity coincide. It has also demonstrated the challenges of implementing even relatively simple evidence-based interventions, such as mask wearing and vaccines. This article details the development of a live design research project working with people who are bereaved, people who are living with dementia and people who are approaching end of life. This article considers whether strategic environmental assessment (SEA) of local-level spatial plans in England is leading to a high level of protection of the environment. It is based on an analysis of the sustainability appraisals (SA/SEA) of 45 core strategies, interviews with 14 planners, and 14 questionnaire responses.
