Arabic language retention is widely theorised as central to the cultural reproduction of Arab diaspora communities, yet its empirical relationship with cultural maintenance has rarely been examined through systematic multivariate analysis in the Indian context. Drawing on original survey data from 214 third-generation and beyond Yemeni-origin households across three Indian states Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka this study tests Arabic langu…
Detection of Sars-CoV-2 on the environmental surfaces and its implications for pandemic preparedness
Even though death due to COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency, less virulent but highly transmissible forms of SARS-CoV-2 continue to spread in many countries leading to outbreaks and rise in hospitalizations in the affected regions. Lessons learned during the pandemic must be put into action to protect the world's population from another catastrophe like COVID-19. Arab Awakening and Its Impact on Bangladesh
Arab Awakening or Arab Spring has caught the imagination of many and has been a subject of intense discussions both at home and abroad. But then what impact did it have outside the Arab world, indeed, in places which remains related to it theologically, economically, socially, gastronomically, through ideas and dogmas such as Bangladesh? Will the impact be limited to politics or will it include the religious discourses as well? Will it boost the …
Regionalism in South Asia
The idea of South Asia is both old and new and so is the issue of regionalism in South Asia. In this respect one could talk about regionalism in South Asia not only from a political standpoint but also from the standpoints of economic, social, cultural, psychological as well as civilizational. Humans after all are multiversed beings and South Asians, civilizationally speaking, have tried to remain as such, although the advent of colonialism and m…

Governance and the international development community
In recent times, the international development community (IDC) has made ‘good governance’ in developing countries, particularly Bangladesh, a critical policy goal. The paper examines the organization of government and IDC‐centered globalization, focussing on the transformative nature of the two, particularly the concurrent reproduction of governmentality and the state of misgovernance in Bangladesh. It also examines the relationship between gover…

Rebuilding Sri Lankan security

The two, taken together, have produced a model of security dedicated to the hegemony of the majority Buddhist‐Sinhala community. This security model has not only ali…
