  • Gambling Harms in Adult Social Care

Open Access•Cat Forward, Caroline Norrie et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Social Work•2023•References: 32

Gambling harms are disproportionately experienced among disadvantaged groups and as such, adult social care (ASC) practitioners are well-placed to identify and support affected individuals. There exists no evidence-based ‘introductory’ question for practitioners to identify those at risk of gambling harms, which includes family and friends (‘affected others’). Open Access•Cat Forward, Caroline Norrie et al.•ARTICLE•Health & Social Care in the…•2022

Gambling-related harms are increasingly recognised as public health concerns internationally. One response is to improve identification of and support for those affected by gambling-related harms, including individuals who gamble and those close to them, 'affected others'. Adult social care services have been identified as a setting in which screening for gambling-related harms is suitable and desirable. To achieve this, a tool is required which …

  • An Australian Profile on Cocaine Supply

Open Access•James Shearer, Jennifer Johnston et al.•ARTICLE•The Howard Journal of Criminal…•2008

Twenty Australian cocaine dealers were interviewed regarding cocaine sales and related issues. Most money was made by cocaine importers and by those selling small, diluted quantities to injecting drug users (IDU), with lower returns made by suppliers to recreational drug users. Australian domestic cocaine transactions appear to occur within private social networks which are difficult to disrupt, with little impact on the volume and price of cocai…
