Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator-Expanded Analysis Report
The MBTI-Expanded Analysis is a new personality test based upon the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Form J, which provides 5 subscale scores for each of the four bipolar indices (E/I, S/N, T/F, and J/P) of the MBTI. Confirmatory factor analysis using LISREL 7.13 was performed on test scores from 500 participants in organizational development and career development workshops. Results were cross-validated on an independent sample of 500 from the same s…
Wechsler Subtest Differences between Prisoners and Patients, with Intelligence as a Moderator Variable
787 prisoners are compared with 1400 hospitalized patients, using the Personality Assessment System scoring of the Wechsler subtest battery and stratifying the data by intelligence. A clear pattern of over-all results emerges, but this is not uniformly replicated across four levels of intelligence
Sex Differences in Wechsler Subtest Profiles as Seen through the Personality Assessment System
Using sufficiently large samples, statistically significant sex differences are demonstrated for all 10 of the Wechsler subtest dimensions employed by the Personality Assessment System. The magnitudes of these effects vary widely. 85% to 90% of the effects are associated with the basic level of the Personality Assessment System and, to this degree, it is suggested that sex differences on the WAIS are learned rather than innate. Inferences based o…
Implications of the Personality Assessment System for Marital Counseling
In a pilot study utilizing the Personality Assessment System, WAIS data for 76 couples seen in marriage counseling are analyzed. Husband's scores, wife's scores, and therapeutic outcome are used to classify the couples into contingency tables, which are then treated using remarkability statistics. The hypothesis that the results will be interesting is supported, and a few individually remarkable effects are isolated, including effects describable…
A Factor Analysis of the Items for Nine Subtests of the Wais
The KXIS has been used in subtest-based diagnostic and personality typing systems. The use of these systems assumes that items within subtests, rather than among subtests, are factorially congruent. One hundred ten item-based variables were selected or constructed from nine subtests of the WAIS. Data for 916 college students were intercorrelated and factor-analyzed. Fifteen factors were rotated to simple structure. In most cases, the rotated fact…

A Factor Analysis of the Information and Arithmetic Items of the Wais
A Factor Analysis of the Information and Arithmetic Items of the Wais
Several reports have described the application of conventional item-analysis procedures to the Wechsler subtests (6, 7, 9, 12, 13). That these results have not been completely consistent has readily been attributed to differences in the samples studied by different investigators. It may be noted, however, that if the items of a particular subtest really do all measure the same thing then no amount of difference in the sampling of people can bring…
On the Dimensionality of the Wais Battery for Two Groups of Normal Males
Many persons ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18) have applied factor analysis to the Wechsler? and the consensus of most of their results has led to the prevailing psychometric view that this battery measures just three common factors. However, discordant results have recently been reported by Cohen (6, 8), who obtained evidence in support of five common factors for a series of samples spanning a wide range of ages. Earlier, Davis (9 ) repor…
