  • Evaluating the Influence of Covid-19 Among Dental Practitioners After Lockdown

Open Access•Eisha Abrar, Adel S Abduljabbar et al.•ARTICLE•INQUIRY The Journal of Health…•2021

Clinical activities at dental premises after the COVID-19 lockdown period or post-COVID-19 are likely to be a challenge for all practicing dentists. To assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on dentists and change in dental practice following lockdown, a total of 1150 participants were approached through online survey forms registered on www.surveys.google. A link containing details of the questionnaire and a consent form was sent to dentists…

  • Sex Differences on the Wisc-Iii Among Children in Sudan and the United States

Open Access•Salaheldin Farah Bakhiet, Ismael Salamah Albursan et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Biosocial Science•2017

The sex differences on the WISC-III are reported for the thirteen subtests, the Verbal and Performance IQs, the four Index IQs and the Full Scale IQs in Sudan and the United States. The sex differences are closely similar in the two samples with a correlation of 0.878 ( p d and 0.11 d , respectively.

  • Religious orientation and its relationship with spiritual intelligence

Open Access•Ismael Salamah Albursan, Mohammad F AlQudah et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2016

We explored the relationship between religious orientation and spiritual intelligence. Specifically, we examined differences in spiritual intelligence by grade, type of school, and student achievement level. Participants were 142 students in the 7th and 10th grades, who were randomly selected from Al-Taif schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. For data collection, we used Al-Ruwaitea's Religious Orientation Scale with its 4 dimensions of religio…

  • Temporal ordering effects of adolescent depression, relational aggression, and victimization over six waves

    Herbert W Marsh, Rhonda Craven et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2016•Cited by: 7•References: 3

The temporal ordering of depression, aggression, and victimization has important implications for theory, policy, and practice. For a representative sample of high school students (Grades 7-10; N = 3,793) who completed the same psychometrically strong, multiitem scales 6 times over a 2-year period, there were reciprocal effects between relational-aggression and relational-victimization factors: aggression led to subsequent victimization and victi…

  • The Internal/External Frame of Reference Model of Self-Concept and Achievement Relations

    Open Access•Herbert W Marsh, Adel S Abduljabbar et al.•ARTICLE•American Educational Research…•2015•Cited by: 3•References: 67

The internal/external frame of reference (I/E) model and dimensional comparison theory posit paradoxical relations between achievement (ACH) and self-concept (SC) in mathematics (M) and verbal (V) domains; ACH in each domain positively affects SC in the matching domain (e.g., MACH to MSC) but negatively in the nonmatching domain (e.g., MACH to VSC). This substantive-methodological synergy based on latent variable models of Trends in International…

  • The Big-Fish-Little-Pond Effect in Mathematics

    Open Access•Herbert W Marsh, Adel S Abduljabbar et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cross-Cultural…•2014•Cited by: 1•References: 102

This substantive-methodological synergy demonstrates evolving multilevel latent-variable models for cross-cultural data. Using Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2007 data for U.S. and Saudi Arabian eighth grade students, we evaluate the psychometric properties (measurement invariance, method effects, and gender differences) of math self-concept, positive affect, coursework aspirations, and achievement. Extending the st…

  • Passion

    Herbert W Marsh, Robert J Vallerand et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Assessment•2013

The passion scale, based on the dualistic model of passion, measures 2 distinct types of passion: Harmonious and obsessive passions are predictive of adaptive and less adaptive outcomes, respectively. In a substantive-methodological synergy, we evaluate the construct validity (factor structure, reliability, convergent and discriminant validity) of Passion Scale responses (N = 3,571). The exploratory structural equation model fit to the data was s…

  • Classroom Climate and Contextual Effects

Herbert W Marsh, Oliver Lüdtke et al.•ARTICLE•Educational Psychologist•2012

Classroom context and climate are inherently classroom-level (L2) constructs, but applied researchers sometimes—inappropriately—represent them by student-level (L1) responses in single-level models rather than more appropriate multilevel models. Here we focus on important conceptual issues (distinctions between climate and contextual variables; use of classroom L2 rather than student-level L1 measures) and more appropriate multilevel models. To i…

  • Domain Specificity Between Peer Support and Self-Concept

Open Access•Kim Chau Leung, Herbert W Marsh et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Early Adolescence•2012•Cited by: 1

Peer support interventions have mostly neglected the domain specificity of intervention effects. In two studies, the present investigation examined the domain specificity of peer support interventions targeting specific domains of self-concept. In Study 1, participants ( n = 50) who had received an academically oriented peer support intervention on verbal subject matter improved significantly in verbal self-concept—but not other areas of self-con…
