Effect of Interleukin-10 and Laminar Shear Stress on Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase and Nitric Oxide in African American Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells
The significant increases in p-eNOS, eNOS, and NO as a result of LSS in African American HUVECs suggest that AEXT may be a viable, nonpharmacologic method to improve vascular inflammation status and vasodilation, and thereby contribute to hypertension reduction in the African American population
Oxidative Stress Levels Are Reduced in Postmenopausal Women with Exercise Training Regardless of Hormone Replacement Therapy Status
This study investigated whether postmenopausal women on HRT would experience a greater reduction in oxidative stress after 24 weeks of aerobic exercise training compared to postmenopausal women not on HRT. Plasma thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), an indicator of oxidative stress, was measured in 48 previously sedentary postmenopausal women on HRT (n = 21) and not on HRT (n = 27) before and after 24 weeks of aerobic exercise trainin…
Canonical Cointegrating Regressions
A new procedure for statistical inference in cointegrating regressions is developed. The author introduces canonical cointegrating regressions (regressions formulated with the transformed data). The required transformations involve simple adjustments of the integrated processes using stationary components in cointegrating models. Canonical cointegrating regressions, therefore, represent the same cointegrating relationships as the original models.…
