Strøby Egede, Vedbæk-Bøgebakken and Relationships among Scandinavian Mesolithic Skeletal Material
This paper derives from new work on Mesolithic human skeletal material from Strøby Egede, a near coastal site in eastern Sjælland, with two foci. The first confirms sex identifications from original work carried out in 1986. The second, and central focus, re-examines comments by one of us (CM) based on work in 1992, and a new statistical analysis including data from the two Strøby Egede adults. In 1998 it was suggested that the Strøby Egede sampl…
A discriminant analysis approach to morphological regionalization in the European Late Mesolithic
The morphological regionalization of European Mesolithic populations was studied by discriminant analysis. Samples from four localities were compared employing craniometric variables. The general conclusion was that there is evidence for regionalization in the Late mesolithic in Europe, and a clinical pattern of variation was not detected. These results are in agreement with archaeological reconstructions of the population structure in the Late M…
Cycle 100 and Its Influence on Renewable Resources and Economic Conditions in Greenland—and Other Countries as Well?/Den Danske Nationalkomité for Geografi/Den 27. Internationale Geografiske Kongres
Fluctuations in the populations of various animal species living in Greenland are known to us. Closer scrutiny of these variations has revealed interesting correlations that arouse curiosity. The climatic influence on living resources, and hence on our Arctic economy, and the way in which nature functions in our part of the world offer an explanation to many questions that must be of interest far beyond our own country. The present article is a b…

This paper examines preferences of Utah residents for energy conservation strategies for space heating. The results are based on data collected in 1981 and 1983 by a mail survey of Utah residents. In both surveys, energy conservation features were found to be Important considerations in choosing a dwelling. In particular, more than 70 percent of the respondents reported they would be more likely or much more likely to buy a house that has solar h…
