  • Spatial Syndromic Surveillance and Covid-19 in the U.S

Open Access•Andrew Curtis, Jayakrishnan Ajayakumar et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Maps have become the de facto primary mode of visualizing the COVID-19 pandemic, from identifying local disease and vaccination patterns to understanding global trends. In addition to their widespread utilization for public communication, there have been a variety of advances in spatial methods created for localized operational needs. While broader dissemination of this more granular work is not commonplace due to the protections under Health Ins…

  • Material culture, room temperature and the social organisation of thermal energy

Open Access•Elizabeth Shove, Gordon Walker et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Material Culture•2014•Cited by: 8•References: 14

This article builds on the suggestion that objects should be thought of not as bounded entities but as sites of flow, mixture and mutation. In arguing that processes of thermal exchange are outcomes and expressions of socio-material organization, the authors demonstrate the potential for linking concepts from physics and social science. Drawing on a recent study of air conditioning in the UK, they show that increasingly standardised notions of ro…

  • Structural Equation Modeling in Marketing

Wynne W Chin, Robert A Peterson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marketing Theory and…•2008

The authors review issues related to the application of structural equation modeling (SEM) in marketing. The discussion begins by considering issues related to the process of applying SEM in empirical research, including model specification, identification, estimation, evaluation, and respecification, and reporting of results. • On the Use of Beta Coefficients in Meta-Analysis.

    Robert A Peterson, Steven P Brown•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Psychology•2005

This research reports an investigation of the use of standardized regression (beta) coefficients in meta-analyses that use correlation coefficients as the effect-size metric. The investigation consisted of analyzing more than 1,700 corresponding beta coefficients and correlation coefficients harvested from published studies. Results indicate that, under certain conditions, using knowledge of corresponding beta coefficients to input missing correl…

  • The Effect of Goal Conflict on Performance

    Open Access•John W Slocum, William L Cron et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Leadership &…•2002•Cited by: 4•References: 1

The authors investigated the motivational effects of goal conflict in a complex goal performance setting. Goal conflict was found to have an indirect influence on performance through its relationship with goal commitment. Goal conflict was negatively associated with goal commitment when controlling for the other antecedents, including expectancy, self-efficacy, and need for achievement. As predicted, goal commitment and self-efficacy were related…

  • Effects of Trait Competitiveness and Perceived Intraorganizational Competition on Salesperson Goal Setting and Performance

    Open Access•Steven P Brown, William L Cron et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marketing•1998

The authors assess the effects of trait competitiveness and competitive psychological climate on self-set goal levels and sales performance. The results indicate an interaction between trait competitiveness and competitive psychological climate, such that (1) salespeople who are high in trait competitiveness set higher goals when they perceive the organizational climate as competitive and (2) salespeople who are low in trait competitiveness set r…

  • A new look at psychological climate and its relationship to job involvement, effort, and performance.

    Steven P Brown, Thomas W Leigh•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Psychology•1996

This study investigated the process by which employee perceptions of the organizational environment are related to job involvement, effort, and performance. The researchers developed an operational definition of psychological climate that was based on how employees perceive aspects of the organizational environment and interpret them in relation to their own well-being. Perceived psychological climate was then related to job involvement, effort, …

  • A meta-analysis and review of organizational research on job involvement

    Steven P Brown•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•1996

The author develops a theoretical framework relating job involvement to its antecedents, correlates, and consequences and reports meta-analyses of 51 pairwise relationships involving job involvement. Results of the meta-analyses support research suggesting that job involvement is influenced by personality and situational variables. Job involvement was strongly related to job and work attitudes but not to role perceptions, behavioral work outcomes…

  • Antecedents and Consequences of Attitude Toward the Ad

    Steven P Brown, Douglas M Stayman•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1992•Cited by: 12

A meta-analysis of pairwise relationships involving attitude toward the ad was conducted. Analyses of correlations across studies are first analyzed and reported. Because significant variance across studies was found, moderator analyses were conducted to account for interstudy variance. The results suggest a number of methodological variables that moderate the strengths of relationships found in studies of ad attitudes. Analyses were also conduct…

  • Effects of Brand Awareness on Choice for a Common, Repeat-Purchase Product

    Wayne D Hoyer, Steven P Brown•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1990•Cited by: 18

Results of a controlled experiment on the role of brand awareness in the consumer choice process showed that brand awareness was a dominant choice heuristic among awareness-group subjects. Subjects with no brand awareness tended to sample more brands and selected the high-quality brand on the final choice significantly more often than those with brand awareness. Thus, when quality differences exist among competing brands, consumers may “pay a pri…
