A naturalistic study of the relation between preschool setting events and peer interaction in four activity contexts
TV Preference as a Technique for Selection of Reinforcers
A technique for evaluating preference for television (TV) programs provided six low-level and six high-level retardates with a simultaneous choice of four keys, each programing a different consequence. The total time S depressed each of the four keys resulting in three different TV programs or no program (no audio or video) was recorded. Each consequence was continuously available and the consequence programmed by each key was switched every 2 mi…
Isolating Variables Which Affect TV Preferences of Retarded Children
The TV preference of 6 low-level and 6 high-level retardates was determined by providing each S with a simultaneous choice of four alternatives (three TV programs and no program) during baseline. All Ss spent most of each session responding and preferred TV over no program. Ss were then given four simultaneous choices between the preferred program in color, in black and white, audio only, and video only. Of 6 high-level Ss 5 showed a preference f…
Conditioning History and the Imitation of Reinforced and Nonreinforced Behaviors
Present research explored the effect of conditioning history on the performance of imitative behaviors when a choice was given between a reinforced and a nonreinforced behavior or between two reinforced behaviors. The conditioning history consisted of exposure to a repeatedly demonstrated reinforced behavior (SDc). During subsequent choice presentations the SDc behavior was paired with a reinforced (SDa) or nonreinforced (S-delta) alternative beh…
