Open Access•Jia Liu, Andrew Mark Bassett et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026•References: 4

Differential attainment among undergraduate/pre-registration healthcare students from diverse sociocultural backgrounds is evident. • Tara Polaris: Shedding light on microbial and climate feedback processes in the Arctic atmosphere

Open Access•Julia Schmale, J Michel Flores et al.•ARTICLE•Elementa Science of the…•2025

The central Arctic is experiencing warming up to four times faster than the global average. This Arctic amplification is accompanied by large deviations in climate projections, making anticipation of high-impact, near-term regional biodiversity and climate change difficult. Several atmospheric processes contribute simultaneously to Arctic amplification and biodiversity change yet remain largely unstudied, not least because of the difficulty to ac…

  • Environmental Engel Curves: Indirect Emissions of Common Air Pollutants

Arik Levinson, James O’Brien•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•2019

Environmental Engel curves (EECs) describe households’ incomes and the pollution necessary to produce the goods and services they consume. We calculate 29 annual EECs from 1984 to 2012 for point-source air pollutants in the United States, revealing three clear results: EECs slope upward, have income elasticities less than 1, and shift down over time. Even without changes to production techniques, pollution would have declined despite growing inco…

  • Exploring 167 years of vulnerability: An examination of extreme heat events in Australia 1844-2010

    Open Access•Linda Coates, Katharine Haynes et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Science & Policy•2014•Cited by: 26

Despite their relative importance in terms of human mortality, extreme heat events have not attracted the same level of study compared with other natural hazards in regards to vulnerability and implications for emergency management and policy change. Definitional confusion and inconsistencies in defining heat related deaths over time have made it difficult to determine an absolute death toll. Notwithstanding these issues, this study employs Peril…

Jodi S Goodman, James O’Brien et al.•CHAPTER•The Oxford handbook of…•2012

In this chapter, we present several cognitive learning theories relevant for novice, expert, and advanced learning, and we discuss their implications for the instructional design and delivery of university management courses. We describe how evidence-based instructional strategies can be derived from cognitive learning theories, and then we apply the strategies to commonly used teaching practices in management courses. We also address a number of…
