  • Brain tissue microstructure in a prospective, longitudinal, population‐based cohort of preterm and term‐born young adults

Open Access•Bradley S Peterson, Sahar Delavari et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Psychology and…•2025

BACKGROUND: Fifteen million infants annually are born prematurely, placing them at high risk for life-long adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. Whether brain tissue abnormalities that accompany preterm birth persist into young adulthood and are associated with long-term cognitive or psychiatric outcomes is not known. METHODS: From infancy into young adulthood, we followed a population-based sample of consecutively identified preterm infants and t…

  • Prenatal exposure to air pollution is associated with altered brain structure, function, and metabolism in childhood

Open Access•Bradley S Peterson, Ravi Bansal et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Psychology and…•2022

Background Prenatal exposure to air pollution disrupts cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development. The brain disturbances associated with prenatal air pollution are largely unknown. Methods In this prospective cohort study, we estimated prenatal exposures to fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), and then assessed their associations with measures of brain anatomy, tissue microstructure, neurometabolite…

  • Using tissue microstructure and multimodal MRI to parse the phenotypic heterogeneity and cellular basis of autism spectrum disorder

Open Access•Bradley S Peterson, Jiaqi Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Psychology and…•2022

BACKGROUND: Identifying the brain bases for phenotypic heterogeneity in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will advance understanding of its pathogenesis and improve its clinical management. METHODS: We compared Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) indices and connectome measures between 77 ASD and 88 Typically Developing (TD) control participants. We also assessed voxel-wise associations of DTI indices with measures of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) …

  • Cointegration and Long-Run Asset Allocation

Ravi Bansal, Dana Kiku•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2011

We show that economic restrictions of cointegration between asset cash flows and aggregate consumption have important implications for return dynamics and optimal portfolio rules, particularly at long investment horizons. When cash flows and consumption share a common stochastic trend (i.e., are cointegrated), temporary deviations between their levels forecast long-horizon dividend growth rates and returns, and consequently, alter the term profil…

  • Regime Shifts, Risk Premiums in the Term Structure, and the Business Cycle

Ravi Bansal, George Tauchen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2004

Recent evidence indicates that using multiple forward rates sharply predicts future excess returns on U.S. Treasury bonds—the R 2 ’s being around 30%. The projection coefficients in these regressions exhibit a distinct pattern that relates to the maturity of the forward rate. These dimensions of the data in conjunction with the transition dynamics of bond yields offer a serious challenge to term structure models. In this paper we show that a regi…

  • A Monetary Explanation of the Equity Premium, Term Premium, and Risk-Free Rate Puzzles

Ravi Bansal, Wilbur John Coleman•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Economy•1996•Cited by: 3•References: 4

This paper develops and estimates a monetary model that offers an explanation of some puzzling features of observed returns on equities and default-free bonds. The key feature of the model is that some assets other than money play a special role in facilitating transactions. The model is capable of producing a low risk-free rate, a high equity premium, and an average positive relationship between maturity and term premium for default-free bonds. …
