155 female students in introductory psychology responded to a modified TAT, a role-orientation scale, and a level-of-aspiration task to test the utility of the Birney, Burdick, and Teevan (1969) model of fear-of-failure motivation in predicting the behavior of females who accept culturally-defined, masculine achievement goals as personally relevant. Weight and Compliance: Male-Female Differences
This investigation examined the willingness of male and female Ss of varying weights (n = 120) to comply with requests for a favor from normal or overweight male and female confederates (n = 4). Results showed both male and female Ss to be less compliant to requests from an overweight than a normal-weight confederate. Overweight Ss were more compliant to normal-weight opposite-sex confederates than to overweight opposite-sex confederates
