  • The effects of the Friendship Online Intervention Program on physical activity, substance abuse, psychosomatic symptoms, and well‐being among at‐risk youth

Open Access•Michal Glaser, Gary Green et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Adolescence•2024

Introduction At‐risk youth are those who are currently or potentially exposed to physical, mental, or emotional danger. The Friendship Online Intervention Program (FOIP) was created to encourage physical activity (PA) and reduce risky behavior among vocational secondary‐school youth in Israel. We wanted to evaluate the effect of FOIP on PA, substance abuse, and psychological factors, including psychosomatic symptoms and well‐being. Methods From O…

  • Predictors of Future Walking Speed

Open Access•Ayelet Dunsky, Aviva Zeev et al.•ARTICLE•The International Journal of…•2022

The purpose of the current study was to identify significant predictors of walking speed (WS) among community-dwelling older adults, as it is one of the most representative measures of functioning in their daily lives. Seventy-seven (24 adult men, 26 adult women, and 27 older-adult women) community-dwelling older adults (73.7 ± 4.9 years) performed two assessments, over a 12-month period. Several physical, cognitive, and psychological tests were …

  • The Complex Association Between Fear of Falling and Mobility Limitation in Relation to Late-Life Falls

Open Access•Howard Litwin, Bracha Erlich et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Aging and Health•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 8

The analysis underscores a complex association between FOF and mobility limitation in relation to late-life falls. People who are worried about falling tend to fall more. Those having high mobility limitation but lacking FOF are also more likely to fall. In cases of considerable mobility limitation, FOF may act as a protective buffer. The less worried in this group, however, may be subject to greater falling, and thus require greater attention

  • Prediction of standing height among Israeli older adults

Open Access•Ayelet Dunsky, Sima Zach et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2012

The prediction of the standing height of frail elderly Israelis, by KH, UL, WC and age, may be an alternative method when actual standing height is difficult or not possible to measure

  • Performance of Pilots and Nonpilots on an Attention-Determined Psychomotor Task

    Michael Bar‐eli, M Bar-eli et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of General Psychology•1998•References: 1

The authors investigated the performance of pilots and nonpilots on an attention-determined psychomotor task. Twenty male military helicopter pilots and 20 male physical education students completed 5 blocks of 10 trials of focusing and shifting dart-throwing tasks; in each group, 10 participants started with the shifting task, and 10 started with the focusing task. Two 2X2X2X5 (Group X Order X Task X Trial Block) analyses of variance conducted f…
