Nonverbal maintenance of conditioned verbal behavior following "interpretations," "reflections," and social reinforcers
Conditioning and Generalization of Hostile Verbalization
The present study was designed to determine the effects of stimulus generalization from conditioned hostile verbalization. Ss were divided into two groups of 10 males and 10 females each. One group was given partial reinforcement for using “intensely hostile” verbs, the other for “neutral” verbs. The results indicated significant differences in conditioning between the two groups, with a more accelerated acquisition rate for the group conditioned…
Differential effects of positive and negative verbal reinforcement on psychoanalytic character types
Operant conditioning with schizophrenics comparing verbal reinforcers versus psychoanalytic interpretations
Differential Effect of Psychoanalytically-Derived Interpretations and Verbal Conditioning in Schizophrenics
Weakening Verbal Behavior
Manipulating Verbal Behavior in Groups
Verbal conditioning, beginning wich Greenspoon ( 195O), has become well established as an area of investigation (Krasner, 1958; Salzinger, 1959). Cenual to verbal conditioning is the concept of reinforcement, defined as an event following a response which alters the strength of that response. Following a response, interventions such as good, urn-hum, etc. have been established empirically as reinforcers. The effect of an intervention (question) d…
