  • Disrupted-in-Schizophrenia 1 (Disc1) Overexpression and Juvenile Immune Activation Cause Sex-Specific Schizophrenia-Related Psychopathology in Rats

Open Access•Taygun C Uzuneser, Jil Speidel et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Synaptic pruning is a critical refinement step during neurodevelopment, and schizophrenia has been associated with overpruning of cortical dendritic spines. Both human studies and animal models implicate disrupted-in-schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) gene as a strong susceptibility factor for schizophrenia. Accumulating evidence supports the involvement of DISC1 protein in the modulation of synaptic elimination during critical periods of neurodevelopment a…

    Open Access•Joseph P Huston•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1967

An apparatus is described consisting of a modified Skinner-box and a motor-driven belt. A stimulus object mounted on the belt comes to serve as a conditioned goal-stimulus as its distance from the subject is correlated with number of responses in a ratio-run. Implications are discussed
