Analysis of Likert-scale data revisited
L'auteur repond aux critiques de Rasmussen (1989) sur le probleme de l'influence des donnees ordinales (dans des echelles de type Likert) sur la validite statistique
RI j ; A Statistic for Reporting Ranked Responses
RIj is a statistic for summarizing survey research questions requesting respondents to rank items. RIj will give the correct answer when the number of ranks is less than the number of items, has a more understandable interpretation than mean rank for the uninitiated or casual reader, and allows expanding the domain of items in questions while maintaining or improving response rates and reliability
The ROS planning system
This paper describes the evolution of the concept of the Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS)—a largely resource‐based approach to providing recreational diversity. It explains the needs of the USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management for a recreation resource planning system and relates those needs to the development of the ROS system to guide recreation planning of large areas. The basic concepts and tenets of the ROS system are …
Type II Errors in Leisure Research
Statistical tests can lead to erroneous conclusions about the null hypothesis. Attention frequently is focused exclusively on the probability of incorrectly rejecting the null hypothesis when it is true. We argue that the probability of failing to reject the null hypothesis in favor of an alternative hypothesis deserves increased attention and emphasis in exploratory research.KEYWORDS: Powersignificance testsType I errors
