  • Heart Failure Virtual Consult

Open Access•Ciara Keane, Stephanie James et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

Introduction: Many challenges remain in the management of heart failure (HF) with suboptimal implementation of guideline-recommended therapies, a changing profile of patients who are older and have multiple comorbidities and a high rate of early re-hospitalization for HF. • Barack Obama and the Myth of a Post-Racial America

Mark Ledwidge, Kevern Verney et al.•BOOK•Barack Obama and the Myth of a…•2013

The 2008 presidential election was celebrated around the world as a seminal moment in U.S. political and racial history. White liberals and other progressives framed the election through the prism of change, while previously acknowledged demographic changes were hastily heralded as the dawn of a post-racial America. However, by 2011, much of the post-election idealism had dissipated in the wake of an on-going economic and financial crisis, escala…

  • Race and US Foreign Policy

Mark Ledwidge•BOOK•Race and US foreign policy•2012

African-Americans' analysis of, and interest in, foreign affairs represents a rich and dynamic legacy, and this work provides a cutting edge insight into this neglected aspect of US foreign affairs. In addition to extending the parameters of US foreign policy literature to include race and ethnicity, the book documents case-specific analyses of the evolutionary development of the African American foreign affairs network (AAFAN). Whilst the examin…

Methods Univariable analyses compared the profiles of survivors to those de…

  • P2-50 GGT levels are a coherent indicator of cardiovascular risk in primary care in both men and women

Carmel Conlon, Cecily C Kelleher et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2011

Introduction Gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) has been re-established as a marker of cardiovascular risk rather than simply an indicator of liver disease. However, there is little data on the associations between GGT and groups with conventional cardiovascular risk factors in the primary care setting. We sought to examine the factors associated with elevated GGT in an Irish primary care population. Methods We explored the baseline data set of the …

  • P2-49 Subclinical diastolic dysfunction is associated with biomarkers of hepatic function

Carmel Conlon, Cecily Kelleher et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2011

Introduction This analysis set to investigate the relationship between novel biomarkers of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality with diastolic dysfunction in a primary care cohort at heightened cardiovascular risk. Methods This is a cross-sectional analysis of 616 participants of the STOP HF study with complete echocardiographic data who have established cardiovascular risk factors and no previously known ventricular dysfunction. Data were also…
