Gene—environment interaction between gaming addiction and perceived stress in late adolescents and young adults
Korean Twins Reared Apart
Monozygotic twins reared in different countries are rare. Data from several available cases have been combined in group findings, masking cultural effects on behavior. The present study compared behavioral and health-related findings for unusual monozygotic female twins raised apart in South Korea and the United States. The 37-year-old twins were exceptional in being reared under dramatically different circumstances with limited telephone and Int…
The genetics and evolution of the general factor of personality
Genetic and Environmental Influences on the Continuous Scales of the Myers‐Briggs Type Indicator
The Myers‐Briggs Type Indicator was administered to a sample of 61 monozygotic twins reared apart (MZA), 49 dizygotic twins reared apart (DZA), and 92 spouses, who participated in the Minnesota Study of Twins Reared Apart (MISTRA) from 1979 to 1995. Twins’ scores on the continuous scales were subjected to behavior genetic model‐fitting procedures. Extraversion‐Introversion and Thinking‐Feeling yielded heritabilities of about .60, consisting large…
The structure of self-concept in female preadolescent twins
Two hundred and forty-three female monozygotic (MZ) and 164 female dizygotic (DZ) twin pairs, aged 11 and 12 years, who participated in the ongoing Minnesota Twin Family Study, completed six specific scales of the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale (P-H). Model-fitting analyses yielded three major conclusions. First, approximately 30% of the variance in specific self-concepts in female preadolescents was due to genetic factors, with the r…
