Unpaired Kidney Exchange
For an incompatible patient–donor pair, kidney exchanges often forbid receipt-before-donation (the patient receives a kidney before the donor donates) and donation-before-receipt, causing a double-coincidence-of-wants problem. We study an algorithm, the Unpaired kidney exchange algorithm, which eliminates this problem. In a dynamic matching model, we show that the waiting time of patients under Unpaired is close to optimal and substantially short…
Management of effective factors in increasing the resilience of rural settlements against drought a case study of Ilam province
Drought is considered a potential natural disaster and threat. Despite all the scientific and technical advancements, in developing countries the management of this hazard is still complicated. Drought management is an important step toward reducing its adverse impacts. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the relationship between community capital and resilience against drought in selected villages in Ilam province, in south west o…

Assessing the Status of Social Factors Affecting Population Escaping in Rural Areas in Iran and Identifying Proponents
The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the status and design of the scenario space of social factors affecting rural depopulation in Nazar Kahrizi, Hashtroud County. The present study is a descriptive–analytic study. The required data were prepared in order to explain the studied problem, and the study was conducted using survey techniques and field operations, as well as MicMac software. The results of the first step of the research al…

For an incompatible patient-donor pair, kidney exchanges often forbid receipt-before-donation (the patient receives a kidney before the donor donates) and donation-before-receipt, causing a double-coincidence-of-wants problem. Our proposed algorithm, the Unpaired kidney exchange algorithm, uses "memory" as a medium of exchange to eliminate these timing constraints. In a dynamic matching model, we prove that Unpaired delivers a waiting time of pat…
Thickness and Information in Dynamic Matching Markets
We introduce a simple model of dynamic matching in networked markets, where agents arrive and depart stochastically and the composition of the trade network depends endogenously on the matching algorithm. If the planner can identify agents who are about to depart, then waiting to thicken the market substantially reduces the fraction of unmatched agents. If not, then matching agents greedily is close to optimal. We specify conditions under which l…
