  • Design of debunking the frailty–sarcopenia–ADT axis in metastatic prostate cancer with multicomponent exercise

Open Access•Rebekah L Wilson, Anderson Vulczak et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2025•References: 1

Introduction The incidence of metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa) is increasing despite a decrease in the prevalence of prostate cancer (PCa). Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), the mainstay of systemic treatment for mPCa, is associated with numerous side effects, including a decline in muscle mass and physical function, which lead to the exacerbation of age-related frailty and sarcopenia. Exercise plays a key role in ameliorating or preventing th…

Methods. Allies intervention zip codes were matched with comparison communities by median …

Noreen M Clark, Laurie Lachance et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2010•Cited by: 8•References: 58

Objectives. We assessed policy and system changes and health outcomes produced by the Allies Against Asthma program, a 5-year collaborative effort by 7 community coalitions to address childhood asthma. We also explored associations between community engagement and outcomes. Methods. We interviewed a sample of 1477 parents of children with asthma in coalition target areas and comparison areas at baseline and 1 year to assess quality-of-life and sy…

  • Development of a scale to measure adults' perceptions of health

    Open Access•James J Diamond, Julie Becker et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Community Psychology•2007•Cited by: 1•References: 11

Given the national agenda on chronic disease self‐management, the goal of the project described in this brief report was to develop a scale that measured adult perceptions about health but did not focus on a specific condition. The Perception of Health Scale (PHS) is based on earlier work that used the Health Belief Model as a focus. The 15‐item PHS was administered to 322 patients in several settings, and the responses were analyzed by the metho…

  • Legal Controls on Mind‐ and Mood‐Altering Drugs

    Open Access•Michael P Rosenthal•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Issues•1971

A discussion of foreseeable changes in our laws relating to mind‐ and mood‐altering drugs and the implications and consequences thereof. For marijuana the major question is legalization in its several alternative forms and the ramifications and problems which would be generated. For narcotics the problems concern methadone maintenance programs and civil commitment and preventive detention plans. Other categories of drugs—amphetamines, barbiturate…
