  • Frazės kirčio įtaka lietuvių kalbos balsių trukmei

    Open Access•Jolita Urbanavičienė•ARTICLE•Baltu filoloģija•2025

Kalbos sraute trumpųjų ir ilgųjų balsių trukmės distribuciją veikia skirtingo stiprumo faktoriai, kurie tarpusavyje sąveikauja ir konkuruoja. Šių veiksnių interakciją svarbu tirti norint perprasti garsų fonetinio varijavimo mechanizmą bei jo dinamiką. Straipsnyje analizuojama frazės kirčio įtaka lietuvių bendrinės kalbos balsių kiekybei bei jo sąveika su kitais tikėtiną įtaką darančiais veiksniais: diktoriais (V1, V2), gretimais priebalsiais (spr…

  • Standard Lithuanian

Open Access•Rima Bakšienė, Agnė Čepaitienė et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of the International…•2023

The Lithuanian language, together with Latvian, belongs to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family and to the group of Eastern Baltic languages. The two surviving Baltic languages have many common features of phonemic inventories: opposition of long and short vowels, an abundance of diphthongs, a system of pitch accent. They have also developed substantial differences, e.g. Latvian has fixed stress and a set of palatal consonants, …

  • Lithuanian and Latvian laterals

Open Access•Jolita Urbanavičienė, Jana Taperte•ARTICLE•Valoda: nozīme un forma /…•2022

The aim of the paper is to examine how acoustic contrast manifests itself between /l/ and /ʎ/ in Latvian, as well as /l/ and /lj/ in Lithuanian. For the study, speech recordings of 6 adult informants (3 Lithuanian and 3 Latvian male speakers) have been analysed. Initial and final laterals in closed symmetric [l]V[l] sequences and intervocalic syllable-initial laterals in V[l]V sequences have been examined. During the analysis, the focus is placed…

  • Continuing the acoustic investigation of nasals in the contemporary Baltic languages

    Open Access•Jolita Urbanavičienė, Jana Taperte•ARTICLE•Baltistica•2022

In the paper, the nasals of the contemporary Baltic languages have been analyzed: labial (Lith. /m/, /mj/ and Lat. /m/), dental (Lith. /n/, /nj/ and Lat. /n/), palatal (Lat. /ɲ/), as well as [ŋ], the velar allophone of /n/ which occurs before [–k/–g] in both languages. Four acoustic properties of Lithuanian and Latvian nasals have been investigated: 1) the first nasal formant (N1); 2) the bandwidth of the first nasal formant (B1); 3) the frequenc…

  • Accentuation of Nominal Words in the Vilnius Speech

    Open Access•Jolita Urbanavičienė•ARTICLE•Taikomoji kalbotyra•2015

The article presents the research on how Vilnians follow the main synchronic accentuation law of the Lithuanian language – de Saussure and Fortunatov’s (SF) synchronic law. The research aims at evaluation of whether the stress of nominal words is often not placed on attracting endings; whether accentuation tendencies of Vilnians are predetermined by external (social) factors – age, gender, education; what impact on the accentuation of townsmen is…

  • Lietuvių ir latvių kalbų trankieji priebalsiai

    Open Access•Jolita Urbanavičienė, Inese Indričāne•ARTICLE•Baltistica•2015

Straipsnyje pirmą kartą lietuvių kalbos trankieji priebalsiai tiriami lokuso lygčių (locus equations) metodu, kuris akustinės fonetikos tyrimuose plačiai taikomas tiek balsių ir priebalsių koartikuliacijos lygiui nustatyti, tiek priebalsių artikuliacijos vietai tirti. Be to, tai pirmasis lyginamasis lietuvių ir latvių kalbų trankiųjų priebalsių tyrimas, atliktas pagal tą pačią metodiką. Straipsnyje pateikiama abiejų baltų kalbų priebalsių akustin…

  • Rytų aukštaičių vilniškių mišriųjų dvigarsių [il], [ir], [ul], [ur] priegaidės

    Open Access•Jolita Urbanavičienė•ARTICLE•Baltistica•2013

Rytų aukštaičių vilniškių šnektose atvirųjų dvigarsių ([a], [e] + R) priegaidės dėl ryškių kiekybinių ir kokybinių pirmųjų dėmenų skirtumų nesunkiai skiriamos iš klausos. Uždarųjų dvigarsių ([i], [u] + R) priegaidžių skirtumai labiau niveliuoti dėl prigimtinio [i], [u] uždarumo ir kokybinio stabilumo. Siekiant nustatyti, ar tarmės vartotojai girdi akūto ir cirkumflekso skirtumus uždaruosiuose dvigarsiuose, buvo atliktas audicinis priegaidžių tyri…
