  • Code-switching-ul

Dialogue, understood as reciprocal social interaction, is currently regarded as the most important means of resolving situations of all kinds in contemporary society. Even expressions such as intercultural, interethnic, or intercommunity dialogue in fact describe a type of cooperation achieved through dialogical interaction. We believe that, alongside the concept of “conversational history” (Golopenția Eretescu 1985), we may also place that of “d…

In a fluid world, often changing with an atomized and unpredictable reality, the need for stable guide marks that reestablish the original connection between the parts and the whole is increasingly felt. By reflecting universal values and attitudes while conveying founding messages, the literary discourse may offer such point of stability. But the effectiveness of studying literature in the Romanian language class increases by joining other types…

    Open Access•Daiana Felecan•ARTICLE•Diacronia•2018

  • The Canaanite woman’s request or about prayers as forms of linguistic politeness

    Open Access•Daiana Felecan•ARTICLE•Diacronia•2018

The paper aims to establish the semantic boundaries between the terms prayer and request, and implicitly the pragmatic meanings actualized by the two lexemes on different levels of language. Through prayers, a sender conveys a message to a referentially indeterminate receiver in the pragmatic context of the phenomenal world, but “identifiable” exclusively in the world of necessities. The author will adduce as an example a dialogue between the rep…

  • Mediated Naming

    Open Access•Daiana Felecan•ARTICLE•Names•2013

The present paper deals with mediation, a particular linguistic mechanism of designating referents, which is different from conventional naming (performed by means of official proper names) and which relies on (synthetic or analytic) nomination auxiliaries. In the cases discussed, a referent’s identity is established indirectly, by means of unconventional names, the discursive functions of which are identified contextually. To be more precise, th…
