Evidence-based review of Thames Valley Police tactical bicycle deployments in public order policing
This paper explores how an English police force (Thames Valley Police) deploy bicycles within public order policing environments. Using a convergent mixed methods approach, the study combines Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, interviews, and observations of police operations. Typically, foot resources are utilised in Public Order Public Safety (POPS) policing, but FOI data shows that Thames Valley Police (TVP) are pioneering tactical cycles …

In 2019, the reported cost of policing football, according to an infographic on South Yorkshire Police’s website, was £48 million per season with £5.5 million being recovered by the police from football clubs.
